Warner Bros Dates Gangster Squad

Warner Bros said today that it will release its Ruben Fleischer-directed mob drama Gangster Squad on Oct. 19, 2012, right in the teeth of next year’s awards season. Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Emma Stone star in the pic, which is set in 1940s-era Los Angeles and centers on a police unit that is formed to take down head gangster Mickey Cohen, who is played by Penn. Also set to be released on that date is Lionsgate’s romantic comedy The Big Wedding with Robert De Niro and Susan Sarandon as well as Paramount Vantage’s untitled David Chase film, his feature directorial debut, about a group friends in 1960s New Jersey who form a garage band. Best Patter: Jimmy Kimmel asked Jimmy Fallon if he had written an acceptance speech, but Fallon demurred, saying he knew Jon Stewart would win (which he did, incidentally). But Kimmel is the embarrassed one when he reads it. "But most of all, I want to thank Jimmy Kimmel. "He would never mock me or belittle me, especially in a large public venue such as this. I love you, Jimmy Kimmel." Well, maybe not anymore. 4. Law; and Aaron Spelling’s Melrose Place. Cardoso joined Burson-Marsteller in 1991 when the firm acquired Mahoney Communications where she was director of television and worked on such series as Dynasty and thirtysomething. Before that, Cardoso worked in the public relations group of Showtime Networks where she assisted on PR campaigns for telefilms, comedy series and music and variety specials, including It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, Brothers and Dionne Warwick and Friends.
